BLAST FURNACE MUSEUM

There is such a big challenge to preserve the architectural landscape especial in sensitive areas as Rosia Montana, a town whith such a rich history in mining industry. The challenge is bigger when there is an extension involved, what must complete the actual built area and harmonise with it in a way that it enhances the old building by paying respect to it. Our mission was to preserve and make small adjustments of the old building on site and create an extension, in order to have the best settlement for a mining museum. Our concept was inspired by the blast furnace of mining industries and the act of digging underground, so all the spaces were design to offer not only visual sensations to the vistors, but a full experience of what mining industry is.
